The Four Different Levels of Home Care Packages
For older people, being able to continue living independently at home for as long as possible is a major goal. As the Australian government is well aware of this, it subsidizes care at home to enable seniors to access reasonable care services through the different home care packages.
Home Care Package Sydney – What Is It?
Home Care Package is a program funded by the government of Australia. It is meant to enable senior Australians to access support and care services but would prefer to live in their own home instead of moving to a care facility.
Since every individual’s needs are different, there are different tiers or levels. Each level offers certain in-home care services. To determine which level would best suit your particular situation, an assessment will be conducted by the Aged Care Assessment Team, commonly known as ACAT.
Home Care Package Sydney Level 1 – Basic Care
This is the package best suitable for seniors who require a minimal level of support from care providers. A care worker will provide in-home care services for approximately 2 hours per week to help with basic housework like preparing meals, grocery shopping, personal grooming, or cleaning.
Home Care Package Sydney Level 2 – Low-Level Care
Home care package level 2 is for elderly individuals who require a little bit more support. At this level, the services are similar to level 1, but the care worker will visit 3 hours a week to provide more support.
Home Care Package Sydney Level 3 – Intermediate Care
This level suits seniors who require access to nurses or other medically trained professionals in addition to the services of the previous levels. For home care package level 3, the care will be provided care for approximately 9 hours weekly.
Home Care Package Sydney Level 4 – High-Level Care
At this home care package level, there will be considerably more medical and domestic care provided than any of the other packages. The care workers and medically trained staff will be visiting over 14 hours per week – almost 2 hours per day.
The Home Care Package provides senior Australians with an alternative to moving into aged care facilities, which may not be what they want. It allows them to live in their home where things are far more familiar and comfortable.
